Job Description:
Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Pharmaceutical Technician/Pharmaceutical Techician - Apprentice to join our Packaging department located at our Bedford, OH facility. This position is responsible for performing the core functions within the packaging function including, but not limited to:

- Responsible for product inspection, labeling and packaging
- Operation of packaging machinery, including vial labelers, cartoners, exterior vial washers, automated inspection machines, etc.
- Trouble-shoot and seek resolution for issues with equipment
- Minor equipment repairs/adjustments
- Identification & correction of problems to prevent down-time
- Communication and hand-off to relief personnel during shift change
- Perform APT duties as needed

To remain in this position, employees must:

- Understand and adhere to all SOPs, Policies and Procedures
- Adhere to inspection technique, proper documentation practices, and all other aspects of the cGMP's
- May be required to obtain and maintain tow-lift, fork-lift and high-lift certification
- Responsible for ensuring the safety of self and co-workers
- Create and self-monitor development plans and cross-training efforts to ensure continued growth within production
- Regularly checks the LOS training system in order to complete all required training on time.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Is responsible for room set up. This includes pre-use inspection, verification of equipment calibration, and equipment assembly where required.
- Prepares the packaging line(s) for use by performing the daily area checklist. Ensures that all controlled documents are correctly issued for the staged product.
- Identifies problems and corrects them real time.
- Identifies events and issues, documents them real time, and is able to resolve the event or issue in order to continue with operations.
- Performs minor repairs to equipment. If unable to repair, immediately notifies the Sr. Pharmaceutical Technician (SPT) or Supervisor or Maintenance.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and making minor repairs/adjustments to equipment.
- Performs all work in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures. All work is documented in controlled documents (batch records, logbooks or SOP attachments) in accordance with SOP.
- Responsible for following inspection techniques and successfully completing inspector qualification on an annual basis. Will conduct operations in accordance with SOPs. All activities are to be documented in the batch record. All events are to be recorded in the batch record and brought to the attention of the SPT and supervisor for further action. There are no errors or omissions in controlled documents. Ensures that controlled documents are completed, as applicable.
- Assists the SPT with room cleaning activities by directing work done by the Assistant Pharmaceutical Technician (APT) or by conducting such activities themselves.
- Responsible for cleaning of the packaging area after production is complete (lines and general area). This includes equipment, room sanitization, and disposal of waste according to established safety requirements.
- Communicates shift change information to the next shift. This includes meeting with the SPT and Supervisor of the current and next shift.
- Communicates and collaborates during a daily huddle with members of next shift to inform them of the current status of the packaging lines, what challenges were encountered during the previous shift and what issues they may need to be aware of during the next shift.
- Responsible for performing the core operations within this functional area. (A) Load product onto tables, (B) Understand the requirements and demonstrated ability to operate a Dabrico (glass inspection, component inspection), (C) Balck Board White Board Manual Inspection, (D) Label Inspection, (E) Lyophilized Product Cake Inspection, (F) Packing Out -- Exp/Lot Review and per quantity packing, Sealing and Palletize, (G) Preparing boxes for pack-out, (H) Responsible for counting components and rejected product. (I) Operate and adjust all turn-table settings, vial-rinsers, dabricos, shake tables, labelers, systec coding systems, misc. conveyors, packaging machines and automated inspection machines.

Required Education & Experience:

- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in a science or engineering related field. Prior experience in a pharmaceutical environment is preferred. OR an Associate's degree, preferably in a science or engineering related field, with two years of manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment, parenteral experience preferred. OR a high school degree or equivalent with a minimum of four years of manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical environment, parenteral experience preferred.

Eligibility Requirements:

- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

- Demonstrated mathematical skills, including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversions.
- Detail oriented. Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
