| Project Engineer NJ 80 - 90k (J#11847) Education: Masters Degree Experience: 4 - 9 years This role performs professional engineering work in the conception, specification, design, manufacture and testing of medical device packaging. This person will work with design teams & management by managing the process and the development of new packaging solutions. This would be cradle-to-grave, full product life cycle development, and create packaging solutions including conceptual design, supplier development, process development, process deployment, continuous improvement initiatives, continuing production support and supplier development as well as the packaging, shipping and transportation testing required for both sterile and non-sterile packages. This person will help lead in the development of Standard Operating Procedures which govern the development of product packaging. Other duties include but are not limited to: Development and management of Packaging Procedures; develop design rules and guidelines considering performance, cost and reliability Develop advanced packaging designs from concept to final release including CAD documentation Create and maintain component specifications for all primary, secondary and tertiary packaging and develop, conduct and analyze the testing of this packaging Work with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure superior design, released on time; Understand basic supplier manufacturing processes Interfacing with internal product development engineering team to define package design solution; Manage multiple projects to meet established timelines Develop an understanding of in house package manufacturing processes Identify viable primary packaging options and alternatives, defining technical parameters Development of secondary shipment packaging Conduct value analysis and cost reduction activities Develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends in packaging technology and materials Represent corporate initiatives to develop standards for packaging Verification and Validation Write risk management documents relative to packaging, in coordination with the project team Qualifications/Work Experience The ideal candidate for the Packaging Engineer role will have the following qualifications: BS/BA or equivalent, in Packaging Design and Development; typically requiring a 4-yr degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering or package engineering 3 - 5 years of hands-on experience in medical device or pharmaceutical packaging design Detail oriented with excellent communication and project management skills | |||
